Outbreak: Animals, Humans, and Zoonotic Diseases
Outbreak: Animals, Humans, and Zoonotic Diseases
July 11, 2008
Client: Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) (completed February 2009)
NEXT worked with SITES to develop the Concept Plan for a major traveling exhibition on the subject of zoonotic diseases, the most common type of new, emerging infectious disease. A zoonosis is any disease or infection that is naturally transmissible from vertebrate animals to humans. Recent examples in the news (for a wide variety of reasons) include ebola, avian flu, rabies, and anthrax. This project is a partnership between SITES and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
